PRESS RELEASE
Every one strives to make a difference but few thrive. When young and energetic people come forward to make a difference sky is the limit. Swati Mehrotra a footwear designer (who is running her own boutique at vasundhara Ghaziabad) felt an extreme urgency to combat the problems of poverty, education and health. So she exuberantly joined hand with YES at Anchor in NOIDA, to support the social cause that she feels strongly about. Her exclusively hand crafted design footwears are displayed, which are theme based and meticulously crafted by technicians from Agra. She did her footwear design course from FDDI (Footwear Design & Development Institute) and showcased her first collection of footwears of chickenkari concept at JW Marriott in Mumbai. For the first time this collaboration has brought together energized youth in one direction to participate for social cause. All the funds collected from the show will go for the support of YES. YES (Young Energetic Society) an NGO/Youth Movement is the example for it. For uplifting the life of poor people in the neighborhood it was started by the college students. Every day more than 50 youth enroll as its member and people from all walks of life have even contributed tremendously.
Anchor at NOIDA is an ideal hub for youth; where youngsters from neighboring colleges and offices get together to ease out. Swati Mehrotra"Swati Modo" shares the same and similar dream for the society. and it is only but fit for these two youth institutions to join hands together and fight for a common cause for a far greater victory that lies ahead". Souvik Sur the president of YES "YES is not any other NGO, but it is a youth movement of every young person of Modern India, whose heart beats for the welfare and development of the nation and the world as a whole. YES pledges to fight against all social evils from extreme poverty, ill health to corruption.
Swati Mehrotra the designer "It has been a long time dream for Swati Modo to serve the society by contributing a little of what it can give back to the society. Every pair of shoes is being made with one strong intention, that is, whoever walks in those shoes designed by Swati Modo, is contributing to the society - for fighting against extreme poverty and corruption. With YES, Swati Modo has found a perfect partner to fulfill this dream". Music, dance, food and other events graced the fun. Throughout the event various games and shows are organized, and prizes are being awarded to the winners - such as platinum prize worth of 50% discount on any pair of designed footwear by Swati Modo. The prize is awarded to the best answer to a simple question that was asked by the guest of honour Liza varma in a small shoe beauty contest, name 'Mr. and Miss Smart Shoes', where the lucky winners were announced at the end of the show and the prizes were handed over by former Miss India and now choreographer Lisa Varma. There are also mega prizes of discount coupons for identifying the theme of the footwear. Orders are being placed simultaneously for Swati Modo's design, and special discount were also given on that. Every journey begins with a single step and once it gets going its tough to stop the move.
Lisa Varma bytes: "Fashion Industry in India is a growing industry. When we talk about fashion, it is not only the clothes we wear, but it includes all the accessories too, i.e. shoes and jewelries. Swati Mehrotra has come up with these new lines of designer shoes, and I really think that the girl is going places. Her designs are exquisite and I have to say that she has done a really good job. It is inspiring that a girl of her age is not only thinking of her own career - to earn money and fame, but she is also contributing her time and space to social development. It shows that she has more to herself than just being a designer. I am awestruck when I heard about YES. The youth are so motivated, and it shows that this generation of youth is looking beyond than just earning a good life. When I heard and read about the objectives of YES, and coming to know of the Plans. I am also motivated to become a member of a movement that fight against the social evils and injustices. I believe these young people will succeed and grow... and definitely there will be a change in society. I recommend everyone to participate in this youth movement, and like Swati... don't just become a 'Somebody'... become 'Somebody Great'. the 'greatness' can only come from doing something to the society that has given you so much to become 'Somebody'."
